The Digital Governance Handbook for CEOs and Governing Boards (2nd Ed.)

The book has been written to equip Board members and C-suite executives with practical tools and competencies in digital governance that should help organizations to navigate the often risky course of technology investment and digital transformation. By adopting the IT / digital governance controls described in this book, organizations should be well-equipped to avoid IT disasters because they will know what questions to ask and what evidence to seek.

The 2nd edition of the book addresses the emergence of AI in business, providing a brief history and description of AI, and its application in different sectors. The book also discusses concerns and issues in adopting AI and the global efforts to regulate AI, including a summary of consistent AI principles for the responsible use of AI. An additional governance control for AI acquisition and operation has also been added in the 2nd edition.

The 2nd edition also expands its discussion on cyber security and adds an additional governance control in the form of a Cyber Security Strategy to assist organisations in their cyber security investments.

The governance framework provided in this book is based on international standard ISO/IEC 38500 Information Technology - Governance of IT for the organization. Since publishing the first edition of the book, this standard has been revised to ISO38500:2024.  The 2nd edition revises the governance controls in alignment with the new standard's IT governance elements.

IT investment failure is not abating and poor governance is a common thread in failed projects. This book, which is targeted at non-IT professionals, is a must read for CEOs, senior executives, project/program board members and Board Directors.

The book is available for purchase from Amazon (and other leading online bookstores):
